Accounts
Manage your Neon account
Copy page
Your
Neon account
is your personal identity for logging in, managing your profile, and authenticating actions across all organizations you belong to.
Account settings
You can access your Neon account settings from anywhere in the Console. Just click your profile avatar and select
Account settings
from the menu.
Here's what you can do from
Account settings
.
Update personal information
Change your name or email address.
If you signed up with email
By default, your email will be used as your first name. You may want to add your first and last name here to complete your profile. Your email is your login and where we'll send all account communications.
If you signed up with Google, GitHub, or another provider
Your name and email come from your social account. Feel free to change your name to whatever works for you. If you change your email, we'll unlink your social account and switch you to email sign-in. After that, you'll use your new email and password to log in.
Changing your email
If you change your email (whether you started with email or social login), you'll get a verification email to confirm. Once confirmed, your new address becomes your login. If you're using a social login and change your email, we'll unlink your social account and switch you to email sign-in.
Change your email in the Neon Console
Need to switch your login method?
If you signed up with Google or GitHub
, you can switch to email login by changing your email and setting a password.
If you signed up with email,
it's not currently possible to switch to a social login.
Contact Support
and we'll help you out.
Change password
No surprises here: just enter your current password, then your new one (twice). We'll enforce our current password rules for your security.
Two-factor authentication
Protect your account with two-factor authentication (2FA). Once enabled, you'll enter a 6-digit code from your authenticator app each time you log in.
If your organization admin requires 2FA for the organization, you must enroll in 2FA or set up a
passkey
to continue accessing that organization.
Enable 2FA
Go to
Account settings
and click
Set up two-factor authentication
.
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (for example, Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password).
Enter the 6-digit code from your app to verify and activate 2FA.
After setup, Neon will prompt you for a code from your authenticator app every time you log in.
iPhone users
Scanning the QR code with an iPhone camera opens Apple's
Passwords
app, which requires a username and password alongside each authenticator setup. If you sign in with an OAuth provider like Google or GitHub and don't have a Neon password, you'll need to create a placeholder entry in Passwords. Dedicated authenticator apps handle standalone codes without this limitation.
Remove 2FA
Click
Remove two-factor authentication
in your account settings.
Enter a 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm.
For security, removal is
delayed by 24 hours
. During the cooldown:
You'll receive an email notification with a link to cancel the removal.
You can also cancel from your account settings.
2FA remains active until the cooldown expires.
note
Recovery codes are not currently supported. Keep your authenticator app backed up or synced across devices. If you lose access to your authenticator,
contact Support
.
Passkeys
A passkey lets you verify it's you when you sign in, using your device's built-in biometrics (like Touch ID or Windows Hello) or a security key, instead of typing a code. Passkeys are saved through your browser or operating system's passkey manager, such as Google Password Manager or iCloud Keychain.
You can set up both a passkey and two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account. At sign-in, use whichever one you have available.
Add a passkey
Go to
Account settings
and select
Passkeys
from the sidebar.
Click
Add passkey
.
Give the passkey a name, then click
Continue
.
Follow your browser or device's prompts to save the passkey, for example, to Google Password Manager, iCloud Keychain, or a security key.
Your new passkey appears in the list on this page. Click
Add another passkey
to register a passkey for another device.
Sign in with a passkey
After you enter your email and password, click
Sign in with Passkey
to verify with your passkey instead of entering a code from your authenticator app. Follow your browser or device's prompts to complete verification. If you have more than one passkey saved, your browser may first ask which one to use.
Remove a passkey
Go to
Account settings
and select
Passkeys
from the sidebar.
Click
Remove
next to the passkey you want to remove.
Verify your identity with an existing passkey.
For security, removal is
delayed by 24 hours
. During the cooldown, the entry shows the time remaining and a
Cancel removal
button in place of
Remove
.
You'll receive an email notification saying someone requested to remove the passkey, with a link to cancel the removal if it wasn't you.
You can also cancel anytime from your account settings by clicking
Cancel removal
.
The passkey remains active until the cooldown expires.
note
If you lose access to your only passkey and have no other way to sign in,
contact Support
.
Create personal API keys
Personal API keys let you securely interact with the
Neon API
, including through command-line tools, scripts, or third-party integrations that use the API. Your personal API key works for any organization you belong to, so you can manage projects, automate tasks, or use integrations across all your orgs with a single key. The actions you can perform with your key depend on your role in each org (admin, member, or collaborator). You can create, view, and revoke your personal API keys here in your account settings.
Learn more about API keys
Delete account
Delete your Neon account after leaving or deleting all orgs and projects.
important
You are solely responsible for exporting your Projects and Content from the Neon Platform before the deactivation/deletion of your Account for any reason.
Leaving an org
If you're the only admin, promote another member to admin first. You can then leave the org.
Deleting an org
Remove all members (so you're the only one left), delete all projects, and you can then delete the org.
Once you have no orgs left, you can then click
Delete
.
What happens after you delete your account
You'll receive a confirmation email.
If you change your mind, you can reactivate your account by logging in again within 30 days. Your personal info will be restored, though not your API keys.
After 30 days, your account and all related data will be permanently deleted.
