We have two categories: API & Multistep Check runs API Checks: Each execution counts as one run. Multistep Checks: Each request counts as one run. For example, if your Multistep Check script makes 3 requests, then that counts as 3 runs each time your check executes. Browser Check & Playwright Check Suite runs Browser Check: Each execution counts as one run. Playwright Check Suite: For every 30 seconds of execution time, they consume one check run. i.e., a 45 second Playwright Check Suite will consume 2 runs. Each plan includes a specific number of check runs: The Hobby plan is hard-capped at 10k API and 1k Browser Check runs. If you need more, upgrade to the Starter or Team plan. The Starter and Team plans come with a base number of check runs. You can prepay for additional runs. If you exceed the amount included in your plan, we'll continue running your checks at the overage pricing. See the pricing chart on this page for the number of included runs, plus pricing for additional runs and overages. Enterprise plans: please speak to your account executive if you have questions. These factors affect the number of check runs: Check scheduling frequency. If you run a check every minute, your usage would be higher than if you run it every hour. Parallel locations. If your check runs from multiple locations in parallel, each location counts as a run. For example, a check running from 2 parallel locations would consume twice the amount of check runs compared to a check running from 1 location. Retries. Each retry counts as a check run. Flaky checks will increase your usage. For example, a check running every hour from 1 location would use 24 check runs a day. If it ran from 2 parallel locations, then that would be 48 runs/day. All retries would be added to that, i.e. 2 retries would result in 2 additional check runs. Questions? For Starter and Team plans, we will not stop running your checks if you exceed your prepaid limit. Instead, you'll be charged the overage rate for additional usage. You can adjust your consumption levels at any time to avoid running into overages: Adding more consumption: If you increase your consumption allowance, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle (monthly or annual). The additional consumption will be added to your account and available for use immediately. Reducing consumption: If you decrease your consumption allowance, the change will be scheduled to take effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle. You'll continue to have access to your current consumption limits until then. Overage pricing will apply if no prepaid check runs are left: On the Starter plan, Browser Check overages are $6.50 per 1k additional runs. API Check overages are $2.60 per 10k additional runs. On the Team plan, Browser Check overages are $6.25 per 1k additional runs. However, if you upgrade, downgrade, or otherwise adjust your plan, you'll then be charged the current price. What is an Uptime Monitor?
Uptime Monitors are simple monitors that measure the availability and performance of URLs, TCP connections, ICMP pings,
DNS records,
and Heartbeats from passive processes like Cron Jobs.
What is an API Check?
API Checks are monitors that do POST, GET, and other typical HTTP requests. You have full control over the payload, headers, etc. You can also create assertions to check if the response from your API is valid and performant. They can be scheduled to run as often as every 10 seconds, while a 1-second interval is available upon request.
What is a Browser Check?
Browser Checks are monitors based on Node.js scripts using the open-source Playwright testing framework. Each Browser Check uses an actual browser to execute navigation, fill out forms and validate if these interactions have the correct results. This is also commonly called “synthetic monitoring”. For billing, we count every executed script as a check run. Browser check runs have a timeout threshold of 4 minutes.
What is a Playwright Check Suite?
Playwright Check Suites are similar to Browser Checks, but are able to run your Playwright test suites completely natively, with custom dependencies, shared storage state, and more.
For billing, Playwright Check Suites are equal to a single Browser Check running for 30 seconds. For each 30 seconds they run, it will consume one check run. i.e., a 45 second Playwright Check Suite will consume 2 runs.
What is a Status Page?
Status pages provide transparent communication about your service health and incidents to customers, users, and stakeholders. Checkly’s status pages automatically reflect your monitoring results and create a professional interface for incident communication.

How can I add features like private locations or visual regression testing?
These are available in Team and Enterprise plans.
What is the difference between Round Robin and Parallel scheduling?
Round Robin scheduling runs checks sequentially across locations. Parallel allows them to run simultaneously for faster feedback.

By signing up for the Hobby plan, you get access to almost all of Checkly’s features. You do not need a credit card to get started. You get access to 10 Uptime Monitors and can execute up to 10,000 API and 1,000 Browser Check runs per month.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can change between our Hobby, Starter, and Team plans using our self-serve billing portal.
For upgrades, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle (whether monthly or annual). You'll get immediate access to all the new features and benefits of your upgraded plan. For example, if you upgrade halfway through your monthly cycle, you'll only pay for the remaining 15 days at the new plan rate.
When you downgrade your plan, the change will be scheduled to take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. This means you can continue to enjoy all the features of your current plan until your next billing date. Your next invoice will reflect the lower plan rate and your account will be downgraded to the new plan features.

Do you support early startups or nonprofits?
Yes! We do support early-stage startups that are younger than two years by providing a 30% discount on all plans. Nonprofits qualify for a 50% discount.

Billing
How do you bill?
Prepaid plans, like the Starter and Team plans, are paid upfront at the beginning of the subscription cycle. Overages will be added to the invoice of the next billing cycle.
How are uptime monitors billed?
Uptime monitors (URL, TCP, DNS, ICMP, Heartbeat) are billed based on the number of monitors in your account. Once you reach the limit, you won't be able to create more unless you purchase additional uptime monitors.
How are synthetic checks billed?
Synthetic checks are billed based on check runs. We have two categories:
API & Multistep Check runs
API Checks: Each execution counts as one run.
Multistep Checks: Each request counts as one run. For example, if your Multistep Check script makes 3 requests, then that counts as 3 runs each time your check executes.
Browser Check & Playwright Check Suite runs
Browser Check: Each execution counts as one run.
Playwright Check Suite: For every 30 seconds of execution time, they consume one check run. i.e., a 45 second Playwright Check Suite will consume 2 runs.
Each plan includes a specific number of check runs:
The Hobby plan is hard-capped at 10k API and 1k Browser Check runs.
These factors affect the number of check runs:
Check scheduling frequency.

What happens if I reach my synthetic check run limits?
The Hobby plan is hard-capped at
10k API and 1k Browser Check runs
. We will stop running your checks when your credits are exhausted. If you need more, upgrade to the Starter or Team plan.
For Starter and Team plans, we will
not
stop running your checks if you exceed your prepaid limit. Instead, you'll be charged the overage rate for additional usage.
You can adjust your consumption levels at any time to avoid running into overages:
Adding more consumption
: If you increase your consumption allowance, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle (monthly or annual). The additional consumption will be added to your account and available for use immediately.
Reducing consumption
: If you decrease your consumption allowance, the change will be scheduled to take effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle. You'll continue to have access to your current consumption limits until then.
Overage pricing will apply if no prepaid check runs are left:
On the Starter plan, Browser Check overages are $6.50 per 1k additional runs. API Check overages are $2.60 per 10k additional runs.
On the Team plan, Browser Check overages are $6.25 per 1k additional runs. API Check overages are $2.50 per 10k additional runs.
What happens when I upgrade my plan?
When you upgrade your plan, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle (whether monthly or annual). You'll get immediate access to all the new features and benefits of your upgraded plan. For example, if you upgrade halfway through your monthly cycle, you'll only pay for the remaining 15 days at the new plan rate.
What happens when I downgrade my plan?
When you downgrade your plan, the change will be scheduled to take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. This means you can continue to enjoy all the features of your current plan until your next billing date. Your next invoice will reflect the lower plan rate and your account will be downgraded to the new plan features.
Will tax be included in my invoice?
German customers:
Yes, invoices will include value-added tax.
European customers outside Germany:
Your invoice will include value-added tax if you do not provide a valid VAT ID. If you provide a VAT ID, no tax will be added.
Customers outside Europe:
Invoices will not include value-added tax.
What payment types do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit card payments. Stripe handles all payments. For Enterprise plans, we also accept invoice payments.
What happens if the price of my subscribed plan changes? Will my subscription price also change?
If you subscribed to a specific plan, like our Team plan, at a lower price, e.g., $40 per month, you'll remain at that rate for as long as you don't edit your plan. For example, even if the advertised price increases to $80 per month, your subscription remains unaffected. However, if you upgrade, downgrade, or otherwise adjust your plan, you'll then be charged the current price.
Any plan changes may adjust your subscription price, but we'll always notify you beforehand, offering clear communication and the option to opt-out if needed. Our aim is to ensure transparency and fairness while delivering the best value to you.
